After meeting at the Newark School of Violin Making in England, Olivier Calmeille & Arnaud Giral set up creating the Atelier Sous l'Ecorce in 2006. Since then, they have shared a common passion for the making of period string music instruments.
• Inspired by the approach of the forerunners of the early music movement, they have toured the various instruments collections of Europe and studied both treatises and manuscripts of those times in order to turn that research to good account, recreating historically authentic instruments.
