Olivier CalmeilleFr | En Bass GambaBass gamba 7 strings, Paris, 18e c. The idea of this instrument was a bass viol preserved in the museum of the music of Brussels, attributed to Romain Chéron. However few elements exists on this maker and his work, and the instrument itself underwent numerous repairs which do not allow to copy it entirely. So by taking this model, the opportunity to be interested more closer to the Parisian French making of the 18e c., in particular that of the N.Bertrand, will give elements on in the making of this instrument. The model of the head is inspired by a firedog of fireplace, which is the occasion of a molding (Link on the molding of this head)
